How to be happy

{This is a sponsored post. I have been compensated for my time. All opinions are my own.}

A few months ago, I decided I need to get my life together.

I mean, my life isn't crazy (mostly), but I definitely struggle in some areas.
I tend to work a lot.

I'm also an all-or-nothing sort. If I start something, I am compelled to do it all right then.

For instance, when I used to do web design, I'd spend any number of hours on the project (10 hours? 30 hours?) without stopping to sleep. I had to knock it out in one sitting.

I'm like that with everything I do.

Therefore, my word for 2017 is balance.

Today, I'm sharing with you just how I plan to achieve this (and you can, too!).

Over the years, I've pretty much stuck with grammar books that fit with our Charlotte Mason philosophy. And I still like those books.

But the world is more technology-oriented these days, which means we have more options when it comes to homeschool curriculum choices.

As most of you know, my kids and I prefer real books and pencil/paper over online learning. Every now and then, however, we try out an online learning program.

This time, it's GrammarFlip.

TLTR Synopsis: This grammar program is fantastic for middle school kids. We loved it and you can get a 30-day trial here.

Because sometimes getting started is the hardest part.

story starters for teens

Sometimes the hardest part of creative writing is coming up with the opening line.

Where do I start?
How do I draw the reader in?
How do I make the introduction interesting?

Sometimes a prompt is helpful.

Although it's not something I regularly talk about here, anxiety is pretty much a constant companion in my life and always has been.

You see, I have an anxiety disorder, but I also suffer severe anxiety attacks over situational stresses.

It's awful.

Of course, you don't need to have an anxiety disorder to be anxious. I mean, life is stressful, right?

Whether you're a mom working outside the home, inside the home, or you're just doing the SAHM job, everyone suffers from stress these days.

Kids. Bills. Marriage. Being single. Schedules. To-do lists. Special needs kids.

Modern life is full of anxiety-inducing problems and situations, isn't it?

So what can you do about it?

new house

This is something I've kept under my hat for a while, but I've been looking to move.

Housing in my area has become unaffordable, to say the least. Experts claim the country is experiencing an affordable housing crisis because millennials, unlike generations past, aren't purchasing homes.

They're just renting indefinitely.

The result is sky-high rental rates. At least that's the case in the Orlando-Daytona area, where I currently live.
